London Apartments Visitors Blog
September 2008
London is a great
City steeped in History and Culture, there are many exciting things to do with
the family and without! .....
THINGS
TO DO WITH THE CHILDREN IN LONDON
Do you want to take the children to
the the Victoria and Albert Museum but are afraid they will be bored and
eager to leave.........well help is at hand.... the V&A have a few
additions to help make your trip an enjoyable one for the whole family.
Backpacks are available full of hands-on activities relating to the
collections and suitable for children from 5 to 12 years old. The packs
include listening games, stories, puzzles and objects to handle. You can
also pick up a free family trail from the Information Desks. Plan the
perfect picnic with the Picnic Party trail. Stay at
Fraser Place
Queens Gate,
Citadines South Kensington or
Avni
Apartments all a short walk away.
TOURIST
ATTRACTIONS IN LONDON
The
London Eye is now established as an important feature in London's
skyline. We have been on it many times (the wheel
goes around pretty slowly
- it takes 25 minutes to do one complete revolution - it's even ok for the
faint hearted!) The pods are spacious with a seating bench in the middle and
you can buy a guide to what you see - no running commentary in the pod
(which I feel is a mistake - captive audience and all that!) Day time is
better as it is easier to pick out the landmarks - at night all we could
make out were pretty lights!
Why not stay at one of our City Locations for a change
Marlin Queen Street is
just along from the Thames
Our favourite family sightseeing bus tour has to be
Duck Tours the
yellow amphibious vehicle (used at Dunkirk in WWII) which 'waddles' around
Westminster and then slips into the River Thames to continue the tour from a
different perspective. Stay at
Citadines Trafalgar - close to Embankment - our whole family stayed
there recently (the 5 of us in a two bedroom apartment) - we thoroughly
enjoyed ourselves.
LONDON FILM PREMIERES
There are plenty of
film premieres in Leicester Square this Summer, notably .....
-
24th Sept 2008 at Empire Leicester Square - How to lose friends and
alienate people - starring Simon Pegg and Kirsten Dunst -
Simon Pegg is expected.
-
29th Oct 2008
at The Odeon Leicester Square - the long awaited continuation to the
James Bond saga - Quantum of Solace - Princes William and Harry are
expected.
A great location to
stay in - just a few minutes walk away is
Citadines
Trafalgar
